Yachtmaster Instructor
John began sailing at Morecambe & Heysham Yacht Club, racing every Sunday in a Laser and then, when his children wanted to join in the fun, moving on to a Miracle dinghy.
Eventually he bought a 28' foot yacht and cruised extensively on the West Coast of Scotland. More trips followed to Spain, France & Ireland and after qualifying as a Yachtmaster Instructor, he took clients out as far as the Orkney & Shetland Isles, as well as the rugged exposed West Coast of Ireland.
In spring 2008, along with fellow yacht club members, he delivered a 35' catamaran from Florida, USA to Morecambe Bay, stopping off in Bemuda and the Azores, followed by a detour to Northwest Spain to avoid the worst of an Atlantic storm.
John spends part of the summer season teaching the RYA's Cruising Scheme for various sea schools in the beautiful Firth of Clyde.
He is now delighted to offer the National Sailing Scheme here in Morecambe, teaching beginners and improvers the essentials of sailing, having found that it is often those basic skills that his clients lack the most on their cruising courses.
John also teaches a full range of theory courses at the Yacht Club during the winter.
As Principal of the 'RYA Recognised' Training Centre at Bay Sea School Ltd, John is an enthusiastic trainer who takes great pleasure in sharing his breadth of knowledge with his clients and looks forward to welcoming you on one of his courses.
