RYA/MCA VHF/DSC Radio
Short Range Certificate
1-Day Course
Would you know how to call for help in an emergency?
Want to know about the recent changes to the Mayday call?
Are you getting the best out of your new DSC radio?
It is a legal requirement that the user of a VHF radio has a license, do you?
This course not only teaches you the correct procedure for operating a marine radio but also provides valuable practical experience doing so. There is nothing like talking for real on the radio, in a relaxed, friendly environment, to banish the initial "stage fright" so many of us experience.
This is an intensive 1-day course and some advance preparation is highly recommended. However, our smaller class sizes allow for plenty hands-on practice and John's frequent short quizzes make sure everyone has fun preparing for a successful test at the end of the day.
"The course was excellent. Taught by a seasoned sailor who was able to bring the reality of using VHF on board to life. Friendly, relaxed, supportive, helpful approach of instructor. It opened my eyes to a lot of things.
Extremely well organised. Good balance of lecture style and practical. Hands on, perfect for my level."
Cost: £105 (includes £30 RYA Certificate fee and VHF handbook).
Venue: Morecambe & Heysham Yacht Club
