RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship
Study with RYA Scotland Instructor of the Year, 2011 and learn how to do things safely right from the start. Sailors, motor boaters, scuba divers, sea kayakers and fishermen will all find this course interesting and helpful.
The course is now available on-line, giving you the flexibility to learn where and when it suits you best. It is split into different topics; each one is presented through a series of interactive, multi-media tutorials. When you finish the tutorial on a specific topic you can then work through some example questions. Finally there will be some exercises to complete, to test that you have fully understood the topic. If you get stuck, you can ask the current RYA Scotland "Instructor of the Year" for help via email, text, phone or

There are no assessments with this course, just the on-line exercises.
You’ll need to spend about 6 hours of on-line study plus practice time and then any background reading you decide to do. Once you start, we'd like you to complete the course within 3 months and we will then send you a certificate.
