RYA Diesel Engine

1 - Day Course

The majority of RNLI callouts to small boats are due to engine failure, many of which are preventable or easily fixed at sea. The RYA's Diesel Engine course was introduced to show you how to carry out a routine service on your engine, diagnose common faults and correct them without needing to call for help. The course provides an ideal opportunity for 'hands-on' experience working on a single cylinder Volvo Penta marine Diesel engine.

The course covers the following topics:

  • How a Diesel engine worksVolvo Penta 2001 Engine
  • Fault Finding
  • Fixing common faults
  • Bleeding air from the fuel system
  • Changing the impeller
  • Routine maintenance
  • Winter lay-up

You don't need to know anything about engines before coming on the course.

Cost: £100 (includes RYA Course Pack)

Venue: Morecambe & Heysham Yacht Club

Next Course:  Saturday September 18th. We can also arrange a date of your choice, for a small group.
